Susan Egan - online therapy & Counselling in Brighton & Hove

A safe, reflective space to explore your thoughts and feelings

If you’re feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, or struggling with relationships or life changes, therapy can help. I provide a warm, supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns, helping you understand how past experiences may influence your present. I offer online therapy across the UK for clients seeking support as a BACP-accredited counsellor.

Susan Egan is a BACP Accredited and Registered Psychodynamic therapist with over 15 years’ experience, offering counselling and online therapy in Brighton & Hove.

I am an experienced therapist and work with people who have a range of problems and concerns and I abide by the code of ethics of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My Psychodynamic Approach

Present-day difficulties and stress can often be traced back to early life experiences. Psychodynamic therapy helps uncover these connections, offering insight into recurring patterns of behaviour and the impact of past experiences on current relationships. By exploring past and present feelings, we can work towards more creative ways of relating to yourself and others.

You don't need to know what's exactly wrong to start - just that something isn't feeling right.

How therapy can help

People seek therapy for many reasons, including:

  • Anxiety, stress, burn out or persistent worry
  • Low mood or depression
  • Relationship, family difficulties,divorce
  • Grief, loss, or major life changes
  • Low self-esteem or feeling stuck
  • Recurring patterns from past experiences affecting your present life.

Together, we explore the underlying dynamics of these challenges, helping you gain insight, clarity, and emotional understanding.

What a session looks like

Sessions are confidential, non-judgemental, and collaborative. Psychodynamic counselling considers both present difficulties and the influence of past experiences, early relationships, and unconscious patterns.

  • Sessions are gently paced and reflective
  • Focus is on gaining self-awareness, insight, and emotional understanding

Some clients choose short-term counselling; others opt for longer-term therapy. We discuss the approach that feels right for you, whether in person or via online therapy.

Feedback from clients

People I work with often say they value having a space where they feel listened to, understood, and not judged. Many find therapy helps them understand recurring patterns, feel more grounded, and manage difficult emotions more effectively. Some notice relational or personal challenges that can be eased with small, reflective changes, and many report a growing sense of empowerment as they recognise their experiences and needs are meaningful.
