COUNSELLING

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’re unsure what to expect. You may feel anxious, stuck, or just aware that something doesn’t feel right. Counselling provides a safe, confidential space to talk openly and be heard without judgement.

I offer sessions in comfortable rooms in Brighton and Hove, as well as online. We can work in a way that feels most supportive for you.

How Counselling Can Help

Counselling gives you time to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Taking this time can help relieve anxiety, stress, and emotional strain.

The sessions are not rushed. You don’t need to know exactly what to say. Together, we can gently explore what feels difficult or confusing, helping you gain understanding, choice, and self-compassion.

Initial Consultation

The initial consultation is an opportunity to meet me, ask questions, and talk through what has brought you to therapy. There’s no pressure to commit.

If we decide to continue, sessions usually take place weekly and last 50 minutes. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and you are always in control of what you share.

Counselling is a process that involves self reflection. The sessions are not rushed, and it is important that you experience the therapy at your own pace.

Who It Can Support

I work with people facing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. You may come with a specific issue or a general sense of unease. Either is welcome.

Counselling can work with a broad range of issues including the following:

  • Anxiety– Feeling constantly worried, tense, or overwhelmed.
  • Bereavement and loss– Coping with the death of a loved one or other significant loss.
  • Depression– Persistent low mood, lack of energy, or difficulty enjoying life.
  • Identity issues– Struggling with self-image, self-understanding, or your place in the world.
  • Loneliness– Feeling isolated or disconnected from others.
  • Low self-esteem– Lacking confidence or feeling unsure of your worth.
  • Relationship difficulties– Challenges with family, friends, or romantic partners.
  • Stress and burnout– Feeling exhausted, pressured, or unable to cope with daily demands.
  • Work-related issues– Difficulties at work affecting your wellbeing or balance in life.

If your concern isn’t listed here, you are still welcome to get in touch. You don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy.

My Approach

My main approach to therapy is psychodynamic, which explores how early experiences and relationships shape how we relate to ourselves and others today. Understanding these patterns can bring insight and clarity, especially when challenges keep recurring.

I also draw on Mindfulness, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Art Therapy. This allows counselling to be tailored to your needs rather than following a rigid structure.

Taking the First Step

It’s normal to feel uncertain or nervous about contacting a therapist. Getting in touch does not commit you to starting counselling—it’s simply the first step to see if this support is right for you.

Email, call or text me  today to book your initial consultation for therapy (link on side bar on the right or below) and start moving toward greater calm, balance, and emotional wellbeing.
